Editor’s Note

 Hello, hello!

It’s a new month – and the end of the year that too. It’s that time when you look back at the months gone by, progress made, lessons learned, and sometimes, even the adventures you quit. It’s also the holiday season! With Christmas coming up and then the New Year’s Eve, you’re sure to be in a party mood later this month. Even if you have no plans, rest easy, because our issue this month will take you onto an intellectually stimulating adventure nevertheless.

For December 2019, our theme is Egypt!

That land with a history over 5,000 years old; that place of mystery and marvel; that destination that is gaining popularity with travelers from around the world. And also a place I happened to be introduced to, thanks to a client I bagged a couple of months ago.

While working on my assignments, which have involved writing all things travel related to Egypt, I have slowly been discovering the country and seeing it in ways I hadn’t before. And so, I decided to share my love of discovery with the community we have here on Of B&B by taking you onto a journey, through literature, into the lands and sands of Egypt.

We will, through fiction and non-fiction, explore Egypt’s history and its contemporary scene this month. We will take a look at the Ancient Egyptian civilization, what led to its downfall and how the past few decades have shaped the country’s political landscape. We will also have interesting features on people associated with Egyptian literature, snippets of events taking place this month and reviews of book recommendations we’ve received from our friends.

I'm a storyteller on a journey - to connect people with places, the past with the present, the contemporary with the traditional. I'm just stepping into the shoes of an explorer, aspiring to be a globetrotter, and someday, a novelist. Follow me through my journeys, and if something does resonate with you, or you'd like me to cover a story for you, I'd love to catch up. (PS: I love coffee!)
